Where is Gold Found

Gold can be found all over the earth, in the ground, ocean or rivers. Some places may have higher quantities of gold metal than others. Gold is associated with quartz and is typically found near by stained rust mounds when digging.

Finding Scrap Gold in Old Cell Phones

 Did you know that there is gold in old cell phones. How many people are throwing away their old cell phones or computers in the recycling container? I am sure you have done the same one time or another in the very recent past. Not many are aware of the fact that they are really discarding gold and other precious metals like platinum, copper, palladium, aluminum, lithium.

Note that lithium is currently more expensive to recycle then to mine so save all those lithium batteries in a safe place and when mining prices increase then recycling will be the option. Although these other metals and plastic do not bring in as much money as gold, you can still make a decent profit in the quantity you will be able to get.

How Much Gold Is In Old Cell Phone

The real money making opportunity is to manually separate the precious metals into plastic containers. Depending upon the cell phone, there is approximately 5 to 10 dollars worth of gold in them not counting the rest of the metals.

There are individuals that are making money in scrapping gold from cell phones to computers and many other electronic products part time. The gold itself is plated onto different parts of the electronic device and is the one that pays the most.

If you look on Ebay.com and other websites throughout the internet, you will see people selling various bundles of cell phones and computer parts like boards so that scrappers can extract gold.

Scrap Gold Recovery

Gold scrappers have ways of getting these phones or computers for free. They advertise by informing the public to keep our planet green and not throw away electronic products in land fills. So they have depot spots around town to collect and safely discard or recycle them. The whole point is to make money by extracting the precious metals and this is called scrap gold recovery.

The Process For Extracting Scrap Gold

Parts like connectors, pins, CPU chips. Gold is usually found inside the CPU chip so you will need a hammer to open it up and extract the metal.

Today’s date is May 10, 2013 and just a few months ago the price of gold was at an all time high of $1,600 an ounce and today it dropped to $1,422 an ounce but it is still a great payday when you can recover a few ounces.

You have the option of selling the parts as is or maximize profits by separating the gold from the board itself, connectors or pins. Prices of gold plated parts or complete electronic boards varies each month so you will have to search on Ebay and other similar websites to find out the current purchase price.

A small number of people know this and I am willing to offer you this secret tip. In general, electronic stores repairing devices like cell phones, computers, cameras and more end up having to discard many of those devices in which the costumer decided to let go due to the hefty repair cost.

The store itself may have to pay to get rid of those devices and this is how I was able to get a van full of electronic equipment. Upon extracting everything I could, I even made money selling miniature screws, bolts and flats for a few dollars a bag. Important note, never ever tell the electronic store that you will extract gold because i can guarantee you that they will ask for money next time you want a bundle of broken electronic equipment.

Brand new computer power supplies can cost $25 to $50 each but selling them on Ebay, my friend was able to get $5 and $10 depending which brand. The point is, you are making money on the gold and everything else you can get money from.

 Unfortunately people have gold fever in their minds thanks to documentary TV programs showing successful miners making great money digging for gold. Truth of the matter is that many are unsuccessful and loose their shirt by finding little to no gold at all.

The inexperienced gold finder must get more reliable information from a real down to earth prospector with years of training under his belt. This can only increase the odds in finding great nuggets of gold to small specs of gold dust.

He amazingly found 4 to 5 ounces of gold on a dried river bed and only digging a few inches to find it. A 4 ounce nugget is worth approximately $6400.00. Mining gold is illegal unless you have the proper licenses, land ownership or rental. If renting the land to prospect, you must inform the owner and have permission to dig along with a contract giving him a royalty percentage of any findings. Finding gold on government owned land or rivers is illegal and you can be fined or prosecuted for it. I mean if you have an operation going on with excavators, generators, water pumps and more. How ever, finding a nugget in a government owned river or land is just like finding a dollar any where else.

Selling Scrap Metal To Supplement Your Income

 If you were to collect all the scrap metal in any country and sell it by the pound then becoming a multimillionaire would be instant. There is no obvious possible means to really collect that amount of metal all at once, but at the very least why not supplement your income by doing a little local recycling.

All you really need is your car and a trailer or a small pick up truck would certainly do the job. Years ago with my Nissan Pick up, I made a cool $68 by scrapping metal in only a few short hours. I should of make more than $68 but because of my ignorance, I lost money due to not sorting the aluminum and copper in the pickings i had.

One great tip in picking metal’s, visit your local town dump where people throw away metal products. I have seen people picking endless amounts of different metal made products like lawn mowers, washing and dryer machines, refrigerator units and much more. I have done this myself and within half an hour, I filled up my pick up and trailer.

Many towns today have their own recycling program implemented because they see the possibilities of making money. Recycling metals is beneficial to people, companies and most importantly to the health of our planet by not extracting all its natural resources, so recycling is the cool way in the conservation of our world.

Making money selling scrap metal by the pound is done everywhere around the world. You will need to search where to sell your pickings. Look for local places or businesses where they purchase from the public and a great place to begin your search is in your phone book directory or even here in the internet. Search for “metal scrap buyers”, call them and get the necessary information to start off your new found business.

For some reason people think scrap metal is simple steel and the truth is gold, silver, aluminum, copper, brass, lithium and many more metals are found in different products. They are also considered scrap metals when and if they are not usable anymore. The differences between these metals are price variations due to market demand.

Scrapping your car

• A great example is if your used car breaks down and the cost to repair it is too expensive, your next logical step would be to scrap the car and simply scrap it. • Your car is now like an auto part store because you can now put a price on your battery, alternator, tires, rims, transmission, seats, doors, fenders and the list goes on. The point is before scrapping anything, there is a market for people that buy used working parts. It may take you some time to sell your auto parts and with patience comes satisfaction.
• One last tip about scrapping cars, did you know that scrap yards can make between $25 and $250 just for the catalytic converter. This is part of the exhaust system that reduces toxic emissions caused by the car engine. There are precious metals inside the catalytic converter such as platinum, palladium and rhodium, so you can also sell it as a precious metal.

Phone or contact via the internet metal scrap buyers and find what the current price for metal is and ask relevant questions so you can maximize your profits. I wish I could have given you a location but the truth is my post may be seen by people around the world and unless you live in Canada near Montreal it would be a waste of time for the majority of my readers.

Scrap Aluminum

• If you have aluminum to sell, scrap buyers will pay 55 to 60 cents a pound provided it is all aluminum. When having metal screws in the Aluminum, the scrap buyers will only pay 15 cents a pound. The logical step is to remove all metals so you get the maximum benefit. One cool tip is to always have a magnet handy nearby simply to detect what’s metallic.
• Always remember, all metals must be cleaned out to get the maximum amount of money. I don’t mean cleaning them with soap and water. Just get rid of anything that does not belong to the metal. If you have an aluminum piece of metal with an aluminum screw, then they stay together and you will get top dollars.
• I had an electric lawn mower with an aluminum body and to get the full price for scrap aluminum, you have to detach the motor and wheels. Note that the motor has copper and you should also extract it and save it in a container. Sell it when you have a few pounds of it.

Scrap Gold

I will make another post for scrap gold but basically you can find gold in cell phones, computers, electronic or digital products circuit boards and many other items. There is a minute amount of gold in each of these products and it can add up quickly into serious cash if you know where to look for.

Scrap Metal

Metal is at 160$ metric ton or .073 cents a pound, price varies each day again depending of market demand. Some scrap buyers will pay less and this is why inquiring around different companies will get you top dollars for your pickings.

You know the saying, “someone’s garbage can be another person’s gold mine” or something like that. Well it’s true because there will be times where you will find an item or a metal product that needs tender loving care. So with some fixing or painting, you could now sell it for greater than the price of scrap.

Scrap Metal Prices for Copper and Brass

• Copper price per pound is between $2.80 and $3.05 and price is subject to change depending upon demand, so it may be a little higher or lower every day.
• Plumbing taps or faucets made of brass is $1.25 per pound.
• Yellow brass is at $1.75 per pound.
• Red brass is at $2.10 per pound.
